Dr. Dawson T. Li attended the University of California at Los Angeles where he earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychobiology in 1995. After graduating from UCLA, he attended the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL and earned his Doctor of Optometry Degree in 1999. After earning his optometry degree, Dr. Li practiced in Atlanta, GA for two years concentrating on primary care optometry and LASIK co-management. He has been serving the Bakersfield community since the Fall of 2001.
Dr. Li’s focus is on family practice optometry with an emphasis on ocular disease and contact lenses. He is board certified to diagnose, treat, and manage diseases of the eye and use therapeutic and pharmacological agents. He is also certified in Corneal Refractive Therapy as well as Laser Refractive Co-management. Dr. Li’s patients benefit from his unique understanding of LASIK, after having undergone the procedure himself. Dr. Li also is fluent in Spanish to accommodate his Spanish speaking patients.
Dr. Li is a member of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, and is the acting president of the Kern County Optometric Society. Community service and striving for excellence are very important to Dr. Li. He serves as a board member on the Panama-Buena Vistan Foundation, serving all students Kindergarten thru 8th grade in the PBV school district. Dr. Li is currently an active member of the Bakersfield West Rotary Club and the Bakersfield Business Network.
In Dr. Li’s free time, he enjoys traveling, skiing, golf and spending quality time with his wife, family and friends.
Dr. Yuh-Jen Liao attended the University of California at San Diego where she earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology in 1996. After graduating from UCSD, she attended the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL and earned her Doctor of Optometry Degree in 2000. After earning her optometry degree, Dr. Liao practiced in Atlanta, GA at the Laser Vision Institute, where she successfully managed over 3,000 LASIK cases. She has been practicing optometry in the Bakersfield community since the Fall of 2001.
Dr. Liao’s focus is on family practice optometry with an emphasis on ocular disease and contact lenses. She is board certified to diagnose, treat, and manage diseases of the eye and use therapeutic and pharmacological agents. She is also certified in Corneal Refractive Therapy as well as Laser Refractive Co-management.
Dr. Liao is a member of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, and the Kern County Optometric Society.
Dr. Liao enjoys traveling, tennis, skiing, and spending quality time with her husband, family, and friends.
Dr. Eileen Ng grew up in Orange County before attending the University of California, Berkeley. She received her Bachelor degree in Integrative Biology and decided to continue her graduate education there, obtaining her Doctor of Optometry degree. During her optometric training, Dr. Ng worked in various practice settings, ranging from the Veterans Affairs hospital in Reno, NV to a non-profit health center in Atwater, CA.
Afterwards, Dr. Ng completed her residency at the West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Hospital, focusing on geriatrics and primary care optometry. Following her residency, Dr. Ng published her first paper, titled “Orbital Metastasis”, in the journal, Optometry.
Dr. Ng initially practiced in Compton, CA for several years before recently moving to Bakersfield in 2013 with her husband, who is also an optometrist. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and Kern County Optometric Society. In her free time, Dr. Ng enjoys hiking, reading and improving her cooking skills.

Dr. Lisa Chao grew up in Bakersfield, CA before attending the University of California, San Diego. She received her Bachelor degree in Human Biology at UC San Diego and decided to attend Optometry school in Fullerton, CA at the Southern California College of Optometry. Her optometric training included a variety of settings including the Bakersfield VA Clinic, Empire Eye & Laser Center, as well as the University Eye Care Clinic in Los Angeles and the University Eye Care Clinic- Anaheim.
Dr. Chao’s desire is to focus on primary care optometry back in her hometown. In her free time, Dr. Chao enjoys going to the movies, snowboarding, and spending time with her family.
