Dr. Friedman’s journey

Dr. Friedman’s journey into optometry began with a service trip to the Dominican Republic, where he performed eye exams in underserved communities. Witnessing the profound impact of vision correction—like helping a child see their mother clearly for the first time—inspired him to pursue optometry as his lifelong career.

Known for his holistic approach, Dr. Friedman treats each patient as a whole person, tailoring recommendations to their unique needs and visual goals. He especially enjoys working with children, patients managing dry eye, and those who require specialty contact lenses.

Now living in West Bakersfield with his partner, Tita, also an optometrist, Dr. Friedman shares his home with two energetic dogs, Boba and Buddy, and two pet rats, Burt and Irving. When he’s not in the clinic, he can often be found hiking, rock climbing, or cooking outdoors on the grill.

At Li & Liao Optometry, Dr. Friedman is proud to work alongside a collaborative team that prioritizes consistent, high-quality care. With advanced technology—particularly in dry eye management—and a dedicated staff, patients can expect comprehensive services and a welcoming experience that goes beyond the standard eye exam.
